Industrial projects offer unique challenges to the facility design professional. Often, difficult process requirements provide constraints that must be overcome with thorough and complete engineering. When Hughes Missile Systems relocated final assembly operations for Stinger and Sparrow missiles to their Tucson site in the mid-nineties, Rumsey proved equal to the task, awarded five contracts in the relocation program. Examples of problems solved include, providing de-ionized water at specified pressures to highly calibrated equipment and provision of an electrical grid with low current fluctuations, exceeding the specification of common service providers in both cases. Non-disclosure security agreements prevent showing any images associated with this extensive body of work.
While street image sometimes doesn’t matter, refined design is still achievable. Rumsey seeks industrial clients with an appreciation and desire for design.
